Original entry: narrow flush panel + two sidelights, undersized. Replaced with a 1200 × 2040mm Vic Ash NORTH, a single clear-glazed sidelight, and a vertical vision panel.
The original entry at Dingley was a narrow flush-panel door flanked by two sidelights — undersized for the home, visually disconnected from the renovation work the owners had done elsewhere. The brief was a bigger feature door, a simpler sidelight layout, and clear glazing so the entry didn't go dark.
We redesigned around a 1200 × 2040mm Vic Ash NORTH lining-board door with a vertical clear-glazed vision panel through the face. Sidelight count dropped from two to one — single narrow clear-glazed strip on the hinge side. The Vic Ash KD hardwood jamb runs the assembly. Merbau sill ties the base.
Result is a stronger architectural read at the entrance with more natural light through the vision panel and the remaining sidelight. The wider Vic Ash door gives the house a presence the original 820mm flush couldn't.
